Three lead for Delaware OL
At 6-foot-7 and 288-pounds, Middletown, Delaware offensive tackle Gifford Timothy has all the physical tools to be a standout lineman in the college ranks.
Much of that will depend on how Timothy's body continues to develop, as well as how he matures as a player. But at the very least, the tools are there.
Timothy holds offers from BYU, Maryland, Rutgers, Utah and Boise State, demonstrating the fact that coaches believe he has what it takes to protect the quarterback and pave the way for running backs.
"I've just been doing some football camps lately. I went to Boise State and the University of Utah's camp," Timothy relayed in a recent interview. "I got an offer at the University of Utah's camp. They just told me they've been keeping in close contact with me."
Timothy went on to say he plans on taking a trip to Clemson in the next week or so.
What did he think of his trips to Utah and Boise State?
"Well, the University of Utah has a pretty good program, obviously," he said. "They're in bowl games and they're a BCS buster. I'm looking at them but I'm keeping my options open.
"Boise State was good. I just worked out with some of the coaches."
Timothy said he is Mormon, though he does not believe that will ultimately give one of the schools out west the decisive edge.
"I have a top three. I'd have to say right now I like Clemson, Virginia and Utah, not in any specific order."
Clemson's coaches want to get Timothy down to the school in order to give him a tour of the campus and have him work out.
"I want to go on a couple of official visits before I make my decision. I'm not in a hurry to do anything."
