Illinois: Top 10 games for Week 6

Glenwood @ SHG

Friday 7PM
The modern version of the Hatfields and the McCoys go at it once again and usually the Central State 8 conference title is in play. SHG has been very solid all year with it's only loss to nationally ranked Indy Catherdral. Glenwood has also been very solid this season. Can the Cyclones throw the ball effectively if the Titans take away the running game? Can the Titans win on the road at the Palace that Kenny Built? Tremendous game and a packed house the the Patch for this one. Really, really hard to go against the home team here. EDGY's pick? SHG

Highland Park @ Glenbrook North

Friday 7:30PM
Different year and basically the same scenario in this Central Suburban North showdown. Highland Park gets walloped in the non-con and crossover games and then comes back to the North and makes a run. North just goes about it's business and wins games. I have a feeling this one could be much closer than many would think, but in the end the Spartans and RB Grant Rushing find a way to win here.EDGY's Pick? Glenbrook North

St. Rita @ Mount Carmel

Friday 7PM
Easily one of the toughest game every year to predict. Mount Carmel always comes in the favorite and usually goes home with a loss. St. Rita is in must win mode and that's always a dangerous thing for any opponent. One of the top traditional games no question here and expect every Chicago cop and firemen to be hanging around this one on Friday night. I guess according to my polls MC is the hands down favorite here....and that thought alone scares me in this one. Pick very carefully kids. EDGY's pick? Mount Carmel

Wheaton North @ Glenbard North

Another really, really interesting game here on several levels. North has been rolling and the defense is starting to catch up to the Falcons offense and that's a scary thought. However Glenbard North always just fights and claws it's way and defensively play as well as anyone in Chicagoland, especially in big games. Gonna roll with my higher ranked team but again this one is a coin flipper.EDGY's pick? Wheaton North

Marist @ Benet

Again everyone expected Marist to be here but not Benet. The Redwings have been throwing the ball with great success and the defense has been lights out all year. Marist has been winning the close games this year and is that a good thing......or a concern because that luck has to run out at some point, right? I think the Redhawks find a way in a very competitive game but again this has potential trap game written all over it for Marist.EDGY's pick? Marist

Stevenson @ Lake Zurich

Friday 7:30PM
A few key injuries and the Bears stop scoring points? I find it hard to believe that this team won't readjust a few things on offense this week. Stevenson has been rolling along with the LZ defense has been as good as anyone this season. The Patriots have played pretty well over the past few years against the Bears and I say they get another close win here.. EDGY's pick? Stevenson

Morris @ Rochelle

Friday 7:30PM
Morris on paper is the better team here and that's exactly what Rochelle and veteran head coach Kevin Crandall is hoping for this week. The Hubs just come out and hit you and make you stop the run. If we get a rainy or wet game look out here. Rochelle will attempt to go toe to toe with Morris and honestly the Redskins haven't been smacked around in a few weeks. I'll take the visitors but much respect to the Hub Nation. EDGY's pick? Morris

Minooka @ Plainfield North

The Nook has been about as up and down as the weather this season and the Indians are in must win mode. Minooka must play ball control this week, hold the ball finish drives with points and for God's sake do NOT give up the big play to the Tigers. North is looking to bounce back after getting pushed around last week against Oswego. If the Tigers get QB Kurt Palendech and RB Jay Roberts going it could be a long night and off-season for the Indian Nation. EDGY's pick? Minooka

Lincoln-Way central @ Bolingbrook

Superman will be on the sidelines again for Da Brook and that's not a good thing. The Raiders defense showed up last week and played well enough to win. Central might be the biggest hard luck team in the state this season, having lost several close games. I worry about the raiders offense here against a very good Central defense, but the offense for Central is also going to have issues with the Raiders defense. EDGY's pick? Bolingbrook

OFallon @ Edwardsville

Friday 7PM
Interesting matchup and a big rivalry game between these two in the Southwestern conference. Both are 6-1 and 4-1 in the conference and both have talent. Edwardssville I'm hearing is a much better team in 2012 compared to the past few season when the Tigers were flat out overhyped. OFallon and head coach Brandon Joggerest just wins and this one looks to be a dandy. I'll take the Panthers in a thriller. EDGY's pick? OFallon
