Fisher (Ill) senior offensive/defensive linemen prospect Josh Wallick (6-foot-2, 285 pounds) has been in impact performer on both sides of the football in 2013 for the Bunnies and head coach Matt Leng. Wallick talks about his season, his recruiting and more here.
"It's been a pretty good season (5-2) for us so far," Wallick said. "We've lost a few games but other than those losses it's been a fun year so far. We want to win out the rest of the season and then make a run in the state playoffs."
Wallick recapped his latest recruiting news.
"I camped this past summer at Northern Illinois, Iowa State, McKendree, Lindenwood and Quincy. I still get mail and still stay in touch with the coaches at those schools along with a handful of D3 level schools. I thought that the college one day camps this summer was a great experience for me. I was able to go out and compete against some great players. I was able to also get some great coaching at the camps. I was able to work on improving my footwork and the coaches really helped me improve my overall game. I would say that McKendree, Quincy and Lindenwood are the schools that are the most interested in me these days."
Wallick is also focused on his studies and wants to be able to combine football along with academics at the next level.
"My grades are pretty decent (2.86 GPA and a 25 ACT). I'm looking to major in Kinesiology and I'm also interested in physical therapy. I used to go with my Dad who's a bigger guy to physical therapy. I'm interested in helping other people just feel better. I like how physical therapy would be able to help people just function better and feel better in daily life."
Wallick is also pretty open when it comes to an eventual position at the college level.
"I'm pretty open when it comes to a position on the field. I love playing the game and like both offense and defense. Some schools see me as a nose guard and others see me as an interior offensive linemen. I'm just looking to play football at the college level and play at the highest level possible."
