D1 Quarterback Skills Academy
On a windy Saturday afternoon at Calvary Christian Academy quarterback guru Doug Socha had 33 quarterbacks attend his first D1 Quarterback Skills Academy. We take a look at some of the top prospects in attendance and how they performed.
Stephen Morris - Miami Pace
Morris was the top prospect in attendance and showed why he is one of the top quarterbacks in Florida. At 6 foot 2, 190-pounds with a strong arm and the ability to run a 4.5 second forty yard dash look for Morris to be heavily recruited this spring. Morris has an offer from FIU and says Central Michigan told him one on the way. Also, Purdue has been showing a lot of late and want him to come up on an official visit.
Marshyl Rothman - Jupiter Christian
Rothman showed he has the ability to make all the throws and he is a proven winner after leading his team to back to back state championships. The one knock is his size at 5 foot 9, 175-pounds.
Michael German - Pompano Blanche Ely
German continued to impress coming off his MVP performance at the National Underclassmen Combine in Orlando. German is 6 foot 1, 192-pounds with a strong arm, but his footwork needs to continue to improve. He won the quarterback skills challenge at the camp.
Chris Rapka - Cardinal Gibbons
At 6 foot 2 Rapka has good size and he has the ability to make all the throws. This will be his first year as a starter for Cardinal Gibbons. Rapka recently took in a practice at FAU and met with head coach Schnellenberger.
Nick Becker - Pine Crest
Becker is a drop back quarterback who has a really strong arm. At 6 foot 1, 190-pounds he should get a lot of interest this spring.
Isaiah Howard - Boynton Beach
Howard has great feet and maybe able to see another position in college. He did a good job throwing the ball in the camp as he finished 2nd in the skills competition.
Class of 2011 quarterback prospect Tyler Bergman from Palm Beach Gardens High School won the Underclassmen skills challenge.
A name to remember is 7th grader Hunter Boyett of Westminster Christian.
At 6 foot 6, 256-pound David Delsoin showed off his athletic ability as worked with the receivers catching passes from the quarterbacks. Delsoin joked that he showed be reclassified as an athlete in his Rivals profile. Delsoin who projects as an offensive tackle said he was only receiving letters from colleges right now.
