Gatti nabs two more offers

Wisconsin's offensive tackle offer sheet hasn't changed much in the past few months but last week, the Badger coaching staff decided to extend two more scholarships to Jermaine Barton and Anthony Gatti.

The latter of the two, a three-star prospect from St. Louis (MO) Parkway North, is being recruited by defensive coordinator Dave Doeren, who was able to pluck four-star running back Montee Ball out of Missouri in last year's cycle.

"Our relationship is real good," said Gatti, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound junior tackle. "He (Doeren) actually just called me today (Sunday) and said he wants to get me up there this summer for a visit.

"It's good and we're talking a lot; getting to know each other."

Doeren made a visit to Gatti's high school last week when the offer was extended.

"I was at school and Coach (Dave) Doeren came to visit," Gatti said. "We came back and watched some film and Coach Doeren said he really liked me. Before he left, he talked to my high school coach and said they were going to offer."

Though he has yet to visit the UW campus, Gatti has been heard about Madison from his older brother.

"My brother played hockey up there when he was in high school and he's been telling me about the campus," said Gatti, who now claims offers from Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Kansas, Indiana and Wisconsin.

"I'm still looking forward to going up there and learning more about it for myself. I heard it's a really neat place and a really good football program."

Gatti, who would like to make his decision before the start of his senior football season, said distance would not be a factor in his college choice.

"That's not an issue," he said. "I'm open for anything."

And where do the Badgers stand at this point in his recruitment?

"Wisconsin is up there, but it's still early," Gatti said. "I'm definitely considering them, though."
