Chicago DT wants to visit MSU again

Earlier this summer - June 12 to be exact - Chicago (Ill.) St. Rita three-star defensive tackle Bruce Gaston Jr. was one of several high-profile prospects at Michigan State for the Spartans' one-day camp. It was the first time Gaston had set foot on campus, and he left East Lansing impressed with his Spartan experience.

Now on the verge of narrowing his list, Gaston (6-2, 290) would like to take another unofficial visit to MSU before the fall, though he admits this time of year has become hectic in terms of scheduling because of football practice beginning and late-summer family commitments. Gaston has also visited Illinois, Iowa, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin this summer.

"Right now I'm trying to plan a visit for (MSU). I don't know exactly how well it's going to go, but I will try because I know I got a lot of stuff going on," Gaston told late last week, adding that he is contact with the MSU staff "frequently." He added that he often emails and sometimes calls his primary recruiter, offensive line coach Dan Roushar, and defensive line coach Ted Gill.

Gaston added of a possible return stop in East Lansing: "I think I want to see more because I didn't get to see everything (on June 12). I mainly just saw the football aspect of it. I'd like to see more of the campus, some of the academics things, stuff like that, the school overall."

Gaston said MSU is still very much in his recruiting picture, and when asked about the next step in his process, he talked about trimming his list.

"I'm reaching that point. It's probably going to be early August … and I'll have a top five narrowed down," Gaston said.

"At this point I don't know my top five yet," Gaston added. "I have a pretty good idea of who is going to be in it, but anything can change, so I'll just have to wait."
