Owens recaps visits
LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy junior offensive guard prospect Michael Owens (6-foot-4, 273 pounds) was able to get out to see a few schools in person. Owens talks recruiting and much more here.
"I was able to get out and visit both NIU and Western Michigan recently," Owens said. "I'm pretty excited about both schools and I have a good feeling that both schools seem more interested in me after the visits."
Owens recapped his visits to NIU and Western Michigan.
"I went to NIU a few weeks ago for the junior day and it went really well. I had a chance to see the facilities and the campus. We also took a tour of the new dorms which look pretty amazing. I just liked it a lot at NIU. NIU just has a good program and they have been a winner for several years now. I like the coaches at NIU and I had a good talk with the offensive line coach Joe Tripodi and head coach Rod Carey. NIU said they want to get to know me better. They want me to come back again for a visit and to also camps with them this summer."
"Western Michigan was great. I was able to sit down and talk with head coach PJ Fleck one on one for about 10-15 minutes and Coach Fleck is an amazing guy. I also spent time talking with offensive line coach Brian Callahan and I like the coaches at WMU. I was able to see the campus and the facilities and everything at WMU was good. They just renovated a lot of the facilities and it looks great. I also like the campus and the town of Kalamazoo. It seems like a good town and a good area. The coaches seems to like me and want me to come back for another visit this spring or for a camp this summer. I just left WMU with a good feeling about them."
Owens could spend his spring break in late April on the road visiting schools.
"I might head out East on spring break and make some college visits. I want to see Army or Navy in person and I also want to see some of the Ivy League schools."
Owens knows that this summer will be extremely important in his recruiting process.
"It seems like everyone wants me to camp with them this summer and I'm ready to go. I'll camp at NIU and WMU for sure. I'm just planning to get out and camp at as many schools as I can. Once we get into May I'll have a better idea what other schools I'll camp with this summer."
