ATH Travis is drawing a crowd
Chicago (IL) Solorio junior athlete recruit Messiah Travis (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) has been on several college recruiting radar screens this winter. Travis, who added his third offer from Toledo on Tuesday checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news here.
"I have offers now from Toledo, NIU and Western Michigan," Travis said. "We are also seeing a lot more college coaches in school and it's been fun so far."
Travis, who played wide receiver and safety for the Sun Warriors and head coach Matt Erlenbaugh in 2017 has also remained in touch with a handful of other schools this winter.
"I talk with the coaches who have already offered me. I'm also talking with Illinois State, Minnesota and Western Illinois. It seems like every coach I meet wants to know what side of the football I see myself playing in college. I really like playing wide receiver but I'm pretty open to anything. It's not really that big of a deal to me."
Travis was able to make a recent visit to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
"I went out to NIU last Saturday for a Junior Day and it was a good visit. They had already offered me before I visited so it was just good to get to see the school. They made me feel really welcomed and made me feel like I was already on the team. I like the fact that NIU is pretty close to home. NIU is also just a good school and they have good coaches. I also like how NIU just goes out and puts in the hard work and takes pride on the work ethic."
Travis is now going to remain focused on school along with improving his game this winter.
"We have final exams this week so I've been focused hard on doing well in all of my classes. I'm also playing for HeroH 7on7 this winter and also training and working on my game. I'm excited to get out and get on the field and work on my game with HeroH."
Messiah Travis has scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.
