Castro is ready for double duty
Oak Lawn (IL) Richards junior three star ranked safety recruit Sebastian Castro (6-foot-1, 198 pounds) is getting ready for his upcoming junior season in just 9 days from today. Castro is also preparing to play on both sides of the football this coming season and talks about his new position, his latest recruiting news and much more in this update.
"Our practices have been going really well," Castro said. "We have been looking good and it's an exciting time of the year and I can't wait until kickoff."
Castro, who is also playing quarterback along with safety for the Bulldogs and head coach Tony Sheehan talked about his new role as a quarterback.
"I've been working at quarterback with my coaches since last year and I was the backup last season. I've been focusing harder this past off season on my overall conditioning and I've put in a lot of work on my cardio. We have a hill near my house and I've been running that hill for awhile now. I've been getting in extra work on my cardio and I really needed it so I feel really good these days."
Castro also updated us on his latest recruiting news and fall visit plans.
"I'm looking at getting out to visit some college games this fall. I'm going to visit both Iowa and Minnesota for sure. I might also try to get out to visit a game at Iowa State along with a few other schools. All of those schools have remained in touch with me on a regular basis."
Castro also knows that the Bulldogs will need to be ready to go right out of the gates next Friday.
"We have a really strong early schedule. We open up against Carmel of Mundelein, Phillips, Shepard and then Lemont. Those will be some really good test and challenges for us but I'm confident in my team this season. It just seems like we have more speed and more weapons this season."
Sebastian Castro has scholarship offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Syracuse and Indiana.
