Class 6A: Round 1 Top Names You Need to Know (in no particular order)
QB senior Samson Evans Prairie Ridge- Evans, an Iowa verbal commit can make a very, very strong case for being the best high school football player in the State of Illinois over the past two seasons. Evans again has led the Wolves to an undefeated regular season and with a head of steam heading into the post-season. What people seem to forget is that Evans seems limited time because of the large amount of running clock games the have during the regular season. Imagine what Evans stats would be if he actually played every game for four quarters? Simply a combination of speed, strength, smarts and incredible vision and durability here.
QB senior Isaiah Rucker Crete-Monee- Rucker has led the Warriors offensive since his freshman year at Crete-Monee. Measuring in at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds, all Rucker has done this season is complete nearly 70 percent of his passes for 2,346 yards and 28 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions and a 8-1 record with the Warriors only loss coming to top ranked Lincoln-Way East. Yep, just another day on the field for Isaiah Rucker.
WR/LB Hoffman Estates senior Jaylan Alexander- Alexander, a Purdue verbal commit is a rare player. How many wide receiver/inside linebackers do you see anyways? Alexander is simply a pure football player and a pretty high level athlete who is a force on either side of the football for the Hawks this season. Alexander is also tone of the team's emotional leaders.
QB/S junior Sebastian Castro Oak Lawn Richards- Castro basically never leaves the field for the Bulldogs and head coach Tony Sheehan this season. Castro, who was a full time safety only last season was asked to take on both the quarterback duties along with being a mainstay in the Richards secondary. Castro, who already has a handful of BCS level offers this fall has been impressive both with the run along with his passing ability in the Bulldogs offense while his defensive skills remain strong.
RB/DB junior Devin Blakley Nazareth Academy- Blakley, who is one of several top underclassmen names to watch this post-season for the Road Runners and head coach Tim Racki. Blakley has developed into a major contributor and two ways standout this season at both running back and in the defensive secondary. Blakley at running back has excellent speed and burst and is also a major hitter and strong cover man in the Road Runners secondary.
Quincy junior RB Jirehl Brock- Brock has already added several top BCS level scholarship offers and could very well wind up being one of the top ranked running backs in the Midwest in the Class of 2019. Brock, who is also a standout basketball player at Quincy shows you his ability to beat opposing defenders with his speed while also having some serious power and can and will also punish all comers this post-season.
