Crooms has upcoming camp plans
County Club Hills (IL) Hillcrest senior wide receiver recruit Corey Crooms (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) was one of several in-state standouts who took part in Sunday's Rise and Fire Camp in Elmhurst. Crooms takes a few minutes and discusses his latest summer camp plans and more in this update.
"I have six offers now and Western Illinois was my latest offer," Crooms said. "I'm also going to some camps starting next week. We also start our team camp on Monday and I'm really excited to get back to work."
Crooms filled us in on his summer plans.
"I'm going to all of the North Central College satellite camps starting this week. A lot of the college coaches who want to see me camp this summer are all planning to take part in the camps like Missouri, Western Michigan, Minnesota and a few others. I'm also still in touch with schools like Rutgers and Cincinnati. They both want me to camp with them this summer but I'm not sure I can get out there. I'm focused on my team first this summer and I can't miss any of our camp."
Will Crooms get out to visit any schools this summer?
"I've been able to visit Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Cincinnati so far. I might try to get back and see Cincinnati this summer but I don't have any other visits planned so far."
Does Crooms have a time frame for making a college decision?
"I'm not in any rush for now. I'm going to see how things go with my camps and then I'll look harder at everything."
Crooms is also excited for his team's chances this fall.
"We are going to be a senior heavy team this year. Last year we had a good team and I think we will be even better this year. We have a lot of good players back and everyone is more experienced. I'm trying to be a better leader this year for the younger guys and so are a lot of the other seniors. We should have a great year."
Corey Crooms has scholarship offers from Western Illinois, Kent State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Eastern Kentucky and Seton Hill.
