Chicago (Ill) Simeon (5-0) senior two star ranked defensive back recruit Marquae Kirkendoll (6-foot-2, 171 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process late Monday evening and gave New Mexico his verbal commitment

"I basically was ready to commit so I talked to the coaches at New Mexico and committed," Kirkendoll said. "New Mexico was my top school for awhile and I also didn't want to wait and miss my opportunity so I committed."

Kirkendoll when into more details on why he decided to commit to the Lobos.

"I'm excited about New Mexico and the roster situation is good. They have a starting corner graduating this year and New Mexico offered me and has been recruiting me as a cornerback. It's a chance for me to get away from home and start a new life for myself in college. The distance from home was never a factor for me. I've been wanting to get away from the cold in the winter and wanting to go somewhere new."

So which other schools did Kirkendoll .consider?

"I looked hard at Cincinnati along with Rice. New Mexico recruited me the hardest out of all the schools who recruited me and that also means a lot to me."

So what type of player is New Mexico getting in Marquae Kirkendoll?

"New Mexico is getting a dominant player and also a leader and a competitor. I just feel that I'm a strong all around player and teammate."

Marquae Kirkendoll is verbally committed to New Mexico.
