DB McClurge commits to NDSU

Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel senior safety recruit Phazione McClurge (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) made an unofficial visit today to North Dakota State and McClurge left Fargo as the latest verbal commitment to the NDSU Bison Class of 2017.

"I visited North Dakota State today and I committed," McClurge said. "I just felt like NDSU will be a great fit for me so I committed."

McClurge talked about what sold him on the NDSU Bison.

"Just the whole atmosphere at North Dakota State is great. I love the school and the people around the football program and I just feel like I'll be a great fit. I wanted to make my decision early so I can focused on Mount Carmel for the rest of the summer. Everything just felt right at NDSU."

McClurge, who was drawing strong recruiting interest from MAC and several FCS schools pointed towards his visit today as being key in his decision.

"What stood out to me at NDSU was how comfortable the players are and a lot of them also are pretty far away from home. The overall family atmosphere at NDSU along with the excitement in the program really helps them and pushes them to succeed. The overall fan support for NDSU is pretty amazing and I'm just excited about my decision."

Phazione McClurge is verbally committed to North Dakota State.
