DB Thompson adds his first offer
Chicago (IL) Phillips junior defensive back recruit Joseph Thompson (5-foot-10, 160 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer earlier this week from Northern Illinois University. Thompson discusses his latest recruiting news here.
"It's exciting to get my first offer from NIU," according to Thompson. "I went to NIU for a visit with a few of my HeroH teammates and that's when they offered me."
Thompson discussed adding his first offer from the in-state NIU Huskies.
"I had a really good visit at NIU. I had a chance to see some of the facilities like the weight room and the offices. I also had a chance to see some of the dorms and some of the study areas at NIU. NIU offered me as more of an athlete type of recruit. They feel I could play a few different positions so they want to see how I develop over the next year before they decide on a set spot for me."
Thompson has also been drawing recruiting interest frokm a handful of schools so far this winter.
"I've been in touch with the coaches at Penn State along with Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa State. I visited Michigan State a few weeks ago and that visit also went well. It was my first visit to Michigan State and everything was really impressive. The Michigan State coaches want me to come back again for a spring practice."
Does Thompson have any other visits planned?
"I'm hoping at getting out to visit Iowa State and Illinois later this spring."
Also what is Thompson's dream school?
"Illinois. I went to Illinois last spring for a visit and I loved it there. I just thought Illinois had a great environment and I also really like the coaches at Illinois."
