DB West is looking ahead

Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic senior two star ranked senior defensive back recruit Mitch West (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) and the Broncos (6-3) have bounced back in a big way this season, winning 5 straight games after a rough early start. West checks in and talks about his season, Purdue's head coaching change and more here.

"We are playing pretty well lately." West said. "We just have a younger team this year and it took us a bit longer to get things sorted out. Also having Prince (Walker Western Michigan commit) out for a long time was another big deal."

West, who was verbally committed to Purdue since mid summer gave us his thoughts on Purdue firing of head coach Darrell Hazell.

"I was at Purdue for a game a few days before they fired Coach Hazell. I knew when I committed to Purdue that Coach Hazell could be fired so I wasn't completely surprised to be honest. I just feel bad for the coaches at Purdue. I really haven't been too focused on my recruiting to be honest. I'm just going out and playing and trying to help us win. I've been hearing from a few schools on Twitter. I'm also working on getting some of my video out sometime this week."

West also filled us in on his play so far on the field this season.

"I've been battling some various injuries this season but I'm finally past those and I'm playing much better these days. I'm still playing on both sides of the ball (wide receiver/defensive back)."

Mitch West has scholarship offers from Illinois State, Fordham, South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
