Calcagno, who was an All State player in 2014 talked about why he pledged to the Miami of Ohio Redhawks.
"I was just very impressed with the coaches, the school and just everything that Miami of Ohio has to offer. Miami has a great business school and I was always looking for a school that offered the best mix of academics along with playing at the highest level of football I can. Coach (Chuck) Martin and his staff has quickly turned the program around and they are now very competitive in the MAC. The campus is just amazing and Miami just feels like the best overall fit to me so I committed. It's just the complete package."
Calcagno, who has been a multi-sport athlete his entire life will play defensive end for the Redhawks.
"I was recruited to play defensive end. I've played basketball and wrestling all of my life but football has always been my favorite sport. I've played on both sides of the line but I feel the most comfortable on defense."
Calcagno, who also had offers from Central Michigan and Southern Illinois is thrilled to have his college choice completed.
"I'm very happy to have my decision completed. It was getting pretty stressful. I would get three calls in a night and then I would need to talk to the coaches then go back and finish my homework. It became a lot more work than I thought but it all worked out for the best. I couldn't be any happier and my family is also very excited."
Quinn Calcagno is verbally committed to Miami of Ohio.
