DE Givens adds his first offer

Chicago (IL) Hubbard junior defensive end recruit Kenny Givens (6-foot-4, 243 pounds) was able to add his first offer recently from South Dakota. Givens, who has also seen more college interest and attention this spring checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news here.

"I have an offer from South Dakota," Givens said. "I went out to visit South Dakota a few weeks after they offered me and I really enjoyed it"

Givens filled us in on his impressions from his visit and first offer from the South Dakota Coyotes.

"I really loved it out in South Dakota and it was really nice. I had a chance to talk to the coaches at South Dakota and they all seem nice. They really treat the players well at South Dakota. I also like how they just want the best players to play. Whether they are freshmen or seniors it doesn't matter to the coaches, only the best players end up starting for them. It's a good chance for everyone to earn playing time. South Dakota also has state of the art weight room and facilities. South Dakota is definitely a bit different from Chicago, but I want to experience new places and see different parts of the country. Home will always be home and I can always go back home if I miss the city and I had a great visit to South Dakota."

Givens also recapped his recent in school visitors.

"We've been seeing a lot of college coaches in school. Kentucky has been in school and they seem interested along with Missouri. I've also seen the coaches from Western Michigan, Iowa State, Illinois, Purdue, South Dakota State, Michigan and Northwestern. Wyoming is also in touch and they plan to be in school sometime soon."

Givens has continued to focus this spring on improving his overall game.

"I've been trying to get better with my overall footwork. I also want to get quicker and be lighter on my feet this season. I feel that I'm a good tackler and that I wrap up well. I also try to be a disciplined player and won't over pursue on plays. I can also play either defensive end or tackle and I can make that adjustment pretty easily and I also played some offensive line last year."

Does Givens have a dream school?

"I would say Clemson is my dream school. Clemson just has a great team. When I was six years old my Dad liked Clemson and I told him "I like that team" and they have been my favorite team ever since."

Kenny Givens has a scholarship offer from South Dakota.
