DE Perkins excited over Illini offer

Barrington (Ill.) junior defensive end recruit Jackson Perkins (6-foot-6, 210 pounds) made his first ever visit to the University of Illinois Junior Day last Sunday and came away with his first Big Ten offer.

"It's great to get an offer from Illinois." Perkins said. "I went to the Junior Day and it was my first ever visit to Illinois and overall it was a good experience."

Perkins, who is in the middle of his basketball season talked about adding his first Big Ten football offer from the Fighting Illini.

"It's great to get that offer and it wasn't a huge surprise to be honest. Illinois had made a few in school visits and seemed really interested. I've been talking quite a bit with my recruiting coach at Illinois Jeff Hecklinski so they made it seem like it was going to happen pretty soon. I know that Illinois is a great school and they offer strong academics. I really liked the stadium and the facilities at Illinois. I didn't get to see much of the campus but I'll head back to Illinois in the spring for a practice and I'll look around a bit more."

Perkins is also hoping to get out to make more unofficial visits soon.

"I've been invited to several Junior Days and for now it's just hard to get out because of basketball season. I'm planning to go visit Indiana and I also want to get out to see Western Michigan and NIU. Both of my sisters already go to Indiana so I definitely have some connections already at Indiana."

Jackson Perkins has scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan and Illinois.
