DE Tevis wraps up summer camps
Normal (IL) Community senior defensive end recruit Dalton Tevis (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) wrapped up his summer long camp tour on Sunday and added an offer from D2 Winona State after camping at the Trojans satellite camp at Huntley High School.
"I just got back from the Winona State satellite camp at Huntley and they offered me," Tevis said. "This was my last camp for the summer. I ended up going to 13 or 14 camps this summer and it's time for me to take a break and get ready for my senior season."
Tevis, who is holding a half dozen offers this summer recapped his Winona State satellite camp performance.
"The Huntley camp today (Sunday) went well and I came away with an offer from Winona State which is great. The camp had good competition and overall I felt I did well. I was able to visit Winona State earlier and it's a beautiful campus and also a really good football program. I just felt like after this camp I've camped enough this summer and that it's time to shut it down a bit. I was able to get my name out there a bit this summer and add some nice offers so I feel like ti was all worth it."
So what's the next step for Tevis in his recruiting process?
"I'm done with the camps and now I'm totally focused on my team and my senior season from here on out. I'll still stay in touch with the coaches but my plan is to play out the season and see how my recruiting goes this fall. It will be a while before I make my decision."
Tevis has also remained in touch with and has drawn strong recruiting interest from a handful of in-state FCS schools.
"Illinois State has offered me a preferred walk-on spot already and they said that could change potentially into an offer. I've also been in touch a lot with both SIU and WIU and I'm getting a lot of interest from both schools as well."
Dalton Tevis has scholarship offers from Winona State, McKendree, Missouri Baptist, Trinity University, Missouri S&T and Culver-Stockton.
