DT Kramer pledges to NIU

Aurora (Ill.) Marmion Academy senior defensive tackle recruit Weston Kramer (6-foot-2, 280 pounds) was in search for his first offer this summer. Kramer decided to camp at the nearby NIU Big Dawg camp, earned an offer then committed to the Huskies and head coach Rod Carey.

"NIU had been recruiting me and talking to me since the spring," Kramer said. "They wanted me to come and camp with them and earn an offer."

Kramer had an impressive camp performance at NIU, added his offer then committed to the Huskies a few days later.

"I thought I had a good Big Dawg camp and after the camp the NIU coaches said they liked what they saw and wanted to offer me a scholarship. They offered me that Saturday and then the following Wednesday I called up the NIU coaches and committed. I really was impressed with NIU and everything they have to offer. It's a really nice program and I also love the school and the facilities. I also always wanted to stay close to home and NIU is only about 30 minutes form home."

Kramer drew several recruiting looks this spring and summer before deciding to pledge to NIU.

"Besides NIU I was also hearing from schools like Western Michigan, Illinois, SIU, South Dakota State and some D2 schools like Grand Valley State and Northwest Missouri State.South Dakota was the only other offer I had. I'm just really happy how it all worked out for me. I'm just really happy and excited about NIU."

Weston Kramer is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.
