Effner is ready to look ahead
Aurora (IL) Metea Valley senior three star ranked offensive tackle recruit Bryce Effner (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) has wrapped up his high school football career last Friday. Effner takes a few minutes and talks about what's next for him and more in this latest recruiting update.
"It was a tough season for us," Effner said. "I'm just starting to heal up from the season and once I'm good I'll get back to work and get ready for the next level."
Effner, who is still committed to Penn State is hoping to get out and visit the Nittany Lions sometime soon.
"I really wanted to get out last weekend for the Michigan game but I just couldn't pull it off. I'm definitely going out to Penn State for the Nebraska game (November 18th). It sucks having to watch and hear from all the Pennsylvania recruits who get to go to a lot of the home games. I get a bit jealous about that I'm not gonna lie. I stay in touch with all the guys in our recruiting class. We have a group text and everyone really gets a long well. It's a great class with a lot of cool guys."
So have other schools remained in touch with Effner?
"I still get mail from a handful of schools but that's about it. Most of the schools recruiting me backed off once I committed to Penn State. I'm happy about them backing off and it's not like I'm not totally committed to Penn State. Penn State is it for me and I feel really good about my choice. I'm all set to make my official visit to Penn State on December 8th, 9th and 10th. My birthday is also December 10th so I'm really looking forward to my official visit and celebrating my birthday at Penn State."
Effner, who is also planning to sign early with the Nittany Lions is also getting ready for his off season workout plan.
"I'm going to work with a trainer and get a plan in place. I definitely want to trim down a bit and add more speed and quickness this winter."
Bryce Effner is verbally committed to Penn State.
