Effner picks up Minnesota offer

Aurora (IL) Metea Valley junior offensive tackle recruit Bryce Effner (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) added an offer on Monday from Minnesota. Effner, who also took part in Sunday's The Opening regional camp discussed his latest offer from the Gophers and more here.

"Minnesota offered me today," Effner said. "I was able to talk to my recruiting coach at Minnesota (Brian Callahan) and he offered me over the phone."

Effner talked about his impressions of his latest offer from the University of Minnesota.

"I know that they hired Coach (PJ) Fleck and that Coach Fleck has a good, young staff that won a lot of games at Western Michigan last season. I've also heard that Minnesota is in the process of building some amazing facilities. I also know that Minnesota had a good season last year and won a bowl game. I'll look harder into them and hopefully I can get out to visit them sometime this summer."

Effner has also started to hear from a handful of new schools.

"I've been hearing from Iowa, Notre Dame and the coaches from TCU and Virginia have started to follow me on Twitter. I'm going to visit Iowa in two weeks."

Effner also recapped his impressions from The Opening regional camp on Sunday at Halas Hall.

"I thought I tested well. The Opening camp also had some great coaches and they really worked with me. It was my first experience at something like those camps so it took me a little while to get going but then I adjusted and felt I finished pretty strong."

Bryce Effner has scholarship offer from Ball State, BGSU, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Penn State, Syracuse, Toledo, Western Michigan and Wyoming.
