Eike pledges to Central Michigan

Batavia (IL) junior offensive tackle prospect Nolan Eike (6-foot-6, 260 pounds) visited Central Michigan on Saturday for the Chippewas spring game and also gave Central Michigan his verbal commitment. Eike talks about his decision here. .

"I had it planned over the past week or two about committing," Eike said. "I had made three separate visits to Central Michigan already and I'm just very comfortable with Central Michigan. I was ready to make my decision and I feel great about it."

So why Central Michigan?

"The coaches at CMU are great and they really preach a family vibe and feel which is important to me. They are really great guys and I just feel that I fit in well with the coaches and the players at CMU. I also like the location of Central Michigan because it's not too far from home but it's still far enough away. The campus and the facilities at CMU are really nice and they also have plans for even more renovations. Again it's just a great overall fit for me at Central Michigan."

So why make such an early verbal commitment?

"I really wasn't waiting around for any other offers or waiting for bigger schools to offer me. I had some good offers but I always found myself comparing then to Central Michigan. After a while I was always trying to find places better than Central Michigan and why keep waiting when I knew where I wanted to play for already."

Eike also was made a priority by the Chippewas staff from early on in the recruiting process.

"Central Michigan recruited me the hardest and they always made me feel like I was a priority for them. I could have kept playing the game and trying to get bigger offers but I'm very happy and excited about Central Michigan."

Nolan Eike is verbally committed to Central Michigan.
