Full speed ahead for DL Coe

Homewood (Ill.) Flossmoor junior defensive linemen recruit Isaiah Coe (6-foot-3, 270 pounds) is having a very strong winter. Coe, who took part in a few recent local underclassmen showcase events was able to add his first offer recently from Miami of Ohio and recaps his recruiting and more here.

"Miami of Ohio offered me my first scholarship a few days after I made a campus visit," Coe said. "I was really surprised with the offer and it's a great feeling."

Coe recapped his on campus visit and impressions of Miami of Ohio.

"I really liked it at Miami of Ohio. They have a nice campus and I was just impressed with the coaches along with the whole atmosphere. I had a good talk with defensive line coach Corey Brown and he's just a really good guy and we got along pretty well. Even though I visited them I was still surprised when they offered me a scholarship. Miami offered me a few days after my visit and it feels great to add my first offer."

Coe, who played last season for the Vikings and head coach Craig Buzea on the offensive line is drawing more recruiting attention on the defensive line.

"Miami of Ohio said they can see me starting off as a defensive end and that eventually they can see me winding up on at defensive tackle. I'll play anywhere to be honest but I just love playing defense."

So who else has started to show more recruiting attention towards Coe?

"I've been starting to be in touch with a few coaches. Purdue has been sending mail and I've also gotten in touch with the coaches from Toledo and Indiana State along with the Miami of Ohio coaches. NIU coaches starting to follow me on Twitter along with a coach from Alabama. It seems like more and more college coaches have started to follow me on Twitter after the showcase camps."

So what has Coe been focused in on improving this winter?

"I working hard on just being more flexible, more fluid and just being more athletic. I'm also always adding more strength but my main focus has been adding more speed and quickness."

Coe is also considering playing a new sport this spring.

"I'm thinking about playing lacrosse this spring. I have some teammates who already play lacrosse and I might play it as well. I'll get to work out and stay in shape."
