Holm finds a home

Oswego (Ill.) senior athlete recruit Bryce Holm (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) found a school to call home and gave Illinois State his verbal commitment just minutes ago. Holm talks about his decision here.
"I just got off the phone with the coaches at Illinois State," Holm said. "I called and gave them my verbal commitment. I knew for awhile now that I wanted to play for the Redbirds but I decided to finish out my one day camps first. I feel great about Illinois State and my family is also on board 100 percent."

Holm talked about why he pledged to the ISU Redbirds.
"It's really everything about Illinois State for me. They have a great school, the football program is on the rise and it's just a great overall fit. I really like the coaches at Illinois State. The stadium renovation is impressive and they really have a plan in place to win a national championship. I feel very comfortable at Illinois State and that was another huge factor for me."
Holm was offered as an H Back recruit in the Redbirds offense.
"Illinois State made me understand why they feel I'll be a great fit at H Back and it's a position that's important in their offense. I feel like the ISU coaches have a plan for me and I'm excited about the new position. It allows me to do a lot of different things on offense and that's going to be fun. I've played linebacker and fullback for my high school team and I've tried to be as versatile as possible in every sport I play."
Holm looked around at several schools but just didn't find the fit he found at Illinois State.
"Vanderbilt offered me a walk on spot but that just wasn't going to happen. I camped at Iowa State over the weekend and that went well but they also wanted me to consider more of a walk on spot for now. I visited the Ivy League schools and they offer a great education but they are just too far from home. Illinois State was just a great fit all around for me both on and off the field."
Holm can now focus on his upcoming senior season.
"I'm really excited for the season. I wanted to make a decision now so I can just go out and play this fall. My family is excited. My Mom is a graduate of Illinois State so she's really happy and excited along with the rest of my family."
Holm joins Naperville Central quarterback Jake Kolbe as the second known in-state verbal commitment for the Redbirds in the Class of 2014.
