Illini land Peoria DL Green

Peoria (Ill.) junior three star ranked OL/DL recruit Kendrick Green (6-foot-4, 275 pounds) ended his recruiting process tonight and gave Illinois and head coach Lovie Smith his verbal commitment. Green, an All State player for the 2016 Class 5A Peoria Lions announced his decision via his via his Twitter account.


Green, who made official visits to Illinois, Iowa, Central Florida and Minnesota made his last official visit to Illinois back on December 9th. Green drew 22 scholarship offers in total and was drawing scholarship offers at both offensive guard and defensive tackle. Illinois offered Green as a defensive tackle recruit.

Green is now the sixth known in-state verbal commitment for the Illinois Class of 2017 and Fighting Illini's 14th known overall verbal commitment. Green joins Rockford Auburn offensive tackle Verderian Lowe, Brother Rice wide receiver Ricky Smalling, Marian Catholic QB Cameron Thomas, St. Rita OLB Marc Mondesir, Huntley defensive end Olalere Oladipo and Bolingbrook wide receiver Kendall Smith is the Fighting Illini's in-state Class of 2017.
