Mangieri is ready for Week 10
Dunlap (Ill.) junior three star ranked tight end recruit Charlie Mangieri (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) and the Dunlap Eagles (9-0) are having a stellar season. Mangieri checks in and recaps his season and much more in this update.
"It's been such a fun season for us so far," Mangieri said. "It's been really exciting in school and really in our entire community and being a top seed in Class 5A is pretty awesome but now we beed to get back to work this week."
Mangieri, who is still very committed to Northwestern explained how the 2017 Dunklap Eagles team is a bit different compared to the past few seasons.
"This year our line play has made some major improvements compared to the last few seasons. We are all a year better and that experience really has paid off. Also our running back Luke Bennyhoff has been an animal all season. Our defense has allowed I think just 12 points a game. I've been playing all over the field this season. on offense I've been playing some tight end, H Back and some slot along with playing some quarterback. I've been more of a Wildcat quarterback at times and it's been fun. On defense I've been moving around at either inside linebacker or defensive end."
Mangieri is also thrilled how the school along with the community have bought into the Eagles season.
"It's been funny because all of a sudden kids in the hallways and the remaining student body are pretty excited about the games each week. The kids in school along with the whole community get nervous before each game now and it's been a great, great atmosphere."
Mangieri also filled us in on his recruiting.
"I went to the Northwestern game when they played Bowling Green but that's been the only game I've been able to get to this season. I'm sure I'll go to another game soon. I'm also set to take my official visit to Northwestern on December 15th. I'm also planning to sign my Letter of Intent early. I used to get a few calls now and then from other schools but I'm all set and the calls have pretty much stopped."
Charlie Mangieri is verbally committed to Northwestern.
