McCabe is ready to sign

Chicago Ill. Marist three star ranked defensive tackle Gavin McCabe (6-foot-3, 270 pounds) has been committed to the Indiana Hoosiers since early June and is more than ready to ink his Letter on Intent this Wednesday morning at school. McCabe reflects back on his recruiting process and thoughts on the Hoosiers here.

"I will be signing on Wednesday morning at school," McCabe said. "We have finals this week so I've been trying to focus on finishing strong but I'm also really excited and looking forward to signing with Indiana on Wednesday."

McCabe, who pledged to the Hoosiers after landing nearly 30 various FBS/FCS scholarship offers looked back at how his recruiting process moved along over the past few years.

"I was just talking to my Dad today about how quickly it all moved along. I started my sophomore year wondering if I would get a chance to play at all in college. Two years later it's gone from that to me getting ready to sign my Letter on Intent."

So did McCabe ever have any hesitation in his decision to commit to the Indiana Hoosiers?

"I had zero hesitation about signing with Indiana and that's why I'm so excited to get it done on Wednesday. I had some other schools approach me but it always came back to Indiana for me. The Signing Class at Indiana is just a good group of guys and after my official visit I knew that I made a great decision. I just had a great visit and I'll get to play for some amazing people at Indiana and I'm just super excited."

So what's on the agenda for McCabe after signing his Letter of Intent this Wednesday?

"I had surgery to fix my wrist and my thumb so I'm rehabbing now. I should be ready to get back in the weight room right after the Christmas break. I've also been talking to Nick (Marozas) and some of the other recruits about being roommates at Indiana."

McCabe is also a big fan of the early signing period.

"We will be the first class to sign early which is pretty cool. I'm ready to sign and it it over with early. I like the early signing period and I also like that the next class (2019) will be able to make early spring official visits. We made a ton of trips to schools over the spring and summer and it would have been a lot easier on my family if some of those trips could have been official visits. Just from a cost standpoint alone it makes sense to have early official visits."

Gavin McCabe is verbally committed to Indiana.
