McCabe pledges to WMU

Palatine (Ill.) Fremd senior defensive linemen recruit Will McCabe (6-foot-4, 277 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process tonight and gave Western Michigan his verbal commitment. McCabe talks about his decision here.

"I've visited Western Michigan a few separate times now and it always just blows me away," McCabe said. "Western Michigan was one of the favorites from early on and I just felt like I was ready to make my decision."

McCabe discussed why he decided upon Western Michigan.

"Western Michigan has a lot to offer. They have a great atmosphere both in the football program and the school. I also really like the new coaching staff at Western Michigan. The WMU coaches are just very honest and sincere and really treated me well and have always been very honest and straight forward with me. The coaches at WMU are going to help me grow and develop on and off the field and it's an exciting place to be."

So what position did Western Michigan recruit and offer McCabe for since he's been recruited at both defensive end and defensive tackle?

"Western Michigan said they want to see where I'm at physically once I arrive on campus. They feel I can step in and play defensive end right away but that most likely my longer term spot with be at defensive tackle. I'm totally fine playing at either spot and I'll play anywhere the coaches feel I can help the team."

McCabe can now focus on preparing for his upcoming senior season.

"I'm just really happy and excited about Western Michigan. It's a big weight off my shoulders and I can just focus on the season and my senior year."

Will McCabe is verbally committed to Western Michigan University.
