Mooney's speed was on display

Huntley (IL) junior all purpose back prospect Eric Mooney (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) made the trip down to New Orleans and took part in the recent Rivals.com Three Stripe Camp Speed combine. Mooney was able to again post some impressive testing numbers and talks about his camp experience, his latest recruiting news and more here.

"I went to the Rivals Three Stripe Camp and took part in the Speed Combine," Mooney said. "I also made some recent visits and I also added my first D1 offer from Wofford "

Mooney talked about his Rivals Three Stripe Camp impressions.

"We headed down to New Orleans for the Rivals Camp then we headed back North after the camp and I visited Miami of Ohio. I thought that I tested well at the Rivals Speed combine. I ran a 4.44 40 yard dash along with posting a 4.13 in the 5-10-5 drill. I also posted a 35.3 vertical jump. I felt good about my day and how I tested and I'm hoping some college coaches take notice. Several coaches have stayed in touch with me and they all seem to want to watch me run this spring."

Mooney also filled us in on landing his latest offer from FCS level Wofford..

"One of the coaches at Wofford texted me and I called back and that's when Wofford offered me. The offer came out of the blue to be honest. I had a good talk with the Wofford coaches. I still need to go and do some research on the school but the coaches filled me in a bit on what system they run and a little about the school. Wofford offered me as a quarterback. They run a shotgun triple option offense and they feel I would be a good fit in that offense. I'm sure maybe this summer I'll go visit Wofford and it feels great to get my first D1 offer from them."

Mooney, who just wrapped up his indoor track season also has remained in touch with several schools.

"Several coaches have told me that they plan to stop into school soon. Michigan State was in school back in December. Syracuse and North Dakota State also said they will be in school this spring. Ball State has been in touch quite a bit along with Penn State and Miami of Ohio."

Eric Mooney has a scholarship offer from Wofford.
