New names looking at Thompson

Chicago (IL) Phillips junior defensive back recruit Joseph Thompson (5-foot-10, 160 pounds) has continued to draw more and more recruiting looks this season. Thompson checks in and recaps his latest football recruiting news here.

"Really not a lot is new (with recruiting)," Thompson said. "I'm starting to talk to a few new school. Michigan State and Illinois have picked things up lately. They both want to see me in person and have me come out for a game."

Does Thompson have any upcoming visits planned?

"I'm going to Illinois next weekend and then Cincinnati on the 27th. I'm also looking into getting out to visit Syracuse and Arkansas and seeing howe I can out to see both schools."

Thompson these days has been focused on the Wildcats (7-0) season including the state playoffs in a few weeks.

"It's been a grind just trying to stay on top of my grades along with keeping my body while also studying film and also trying to get some college visits all in. It's been busy but I've been able to managing it all."

Has any of his recent college interest surprised him at all?

"I wouldn't say anyone has been a surprise because I work really hard to be the best. I would say when Arkansas and Kentucky reached out it really opened my eyes because not too many guys from Illinois get SEC schools lookin g at them."

Joseph Thompson has scholarship offers from Northern Illinois University, Toledo and Western Michigan.
