NIU adds another in TE Trieb

Buffalo Grove (IL) junior tight end recruit Tom Trieb (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) became the NIU Huskies third known in-state pledge and fourth known overall commitment in it's growing Class of 2019. Trieb talks about his verbal commitment to NIU here.

"NIU is exactly what I needed in a school," Trieb said. "They have great people, a great program and I can easily see myself playing at NIU for the next four years so I committed."

Travis discussed what stood out to him about NIU that made him make an early verbal commitment.

"The while vibe at NIU really stood out to me when I was there. Everyone on the team along with the coaches are a family. Everyone loves each other, they look out for each other and that's exactly what I was looking for in a school."

So why give NIU an early commitment?

"I just couldn't waste such a good opportunity at NIU."

Trieb, who played linebacker last season at Buffalo Grove was offered by NIU as a tight end recruit.

"NIU offered me as a tight end. I've never played tight end before so that was also a bit surprising. The NIU coaches just feel I'll be a good fit for them at tight end and I'm totally fine with it. I just want to play in college and I'll basically play anywhere the coaches want me to play."

Trieb is n ow the third in state verbal commitment for NIU so far this spring. Trieb joins Solorio junior WR Messiah Travis and Raby junior defensive back Romel Gaston in the Huskies 2019 recruiting class.
