Offers rolling in for Abdur-Rahman

Edwardsville (Ill.) junior athlete recruit Kendall Abdur-Rahman (6-foot-0, 175 pounds) is now up to six early scholarship offers this winter as more and more schools are reaching out to him this winter. Abdur-Rahman takes a few minutes to update his latest recruiting news and more in this update.

"My recruiting has been going really well," Abdur-Rahman said. "I added an offer today (Wednesday) from Northern Illinois and I have six offers now. It's just a great feeling to have so many college options. It's exciting."

Abdur-Rahman, who is running track this winter for Edwardsville filled us in on his latest suitors.

"I have offers now from NIU, Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Western Michigan. All of those coaches have been ion school. I've also been in touch with the coaches from Purdue, Notre Dame, Kentucky and also Ohio State texted me not too long ago. I have been invited by those schools to come out for junior day events and they also just want to get to know me better."

So have those schools talked which position they are recruiting Abdur-Rahman to play in college?

"Most coaches said they look at me as more of an athlete recruit for now. NIU offered me as a quarterback and Illinois has also talked about me playing some offense. Most schools see me as either a receiver or a defensive back and I'll play anywhere they want me to play."

Abdur-Rahman only recent college visit was back in December to Iowa.

"It's been hard for me lately with track and work to get out to see a lot of schools. I was able to visit Iowa back in December when they invited me out to watch a bowl practice. I liked it a lot at Iowa. It's just a really nice school and campus and they also just have a lot to offer. It was also good to reconnect with AJ (Epenesa) while I was at Iowa."

So does Abdur-Rahman have a dream school?

"My dream school would be Ohio State. I've just always been a big fan of Ohio State and I always liked watching Braxton Miller. Ohio State was just always on TV when I was a little kid."

Abdur-Rahman is also excited about getting back on the field for the 2018 season after the Tigers deep state run a season ago.

"I can not wait for the season to get here. We bring back a lot of kids from last year's team and everyone is working hard. We got off to a rough start last season (0-3) and we just needed to mature as a team and fortunately we figured it out."

Kendall Abdur-Rahman has scholarship offers from NIU, Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Western Michigan.
