OL Blake is more than ready
Crystal Lake (Ill.) Central three star ranked junior offensive guard Wyatt Blake (6-foot-4, 270 pounds) has been committed to Northwestern for what seems like forever. Blake is more than ready to make his commitment official on Wednesday and discusses ending his recruiting process on Wednesday morning here.
"I remember I added my first offer from Central Michigan at the end of my sophomore year," Blake said. "That seems like it was a long, long time ago. I just knew that once Northwestern offered me a scholarship it was over. I wish I could have signed earlier to Northwestern."
Blake has also never wavered from his commitment to the Northwestern Wildcats and head coach Pat Fiotzgerald.
"I knew that once I committed to Northwestern last spring that I was all set and ready to end my recruiting process. I was contacted by some schools since then but for the most part they all backed off once I committed to Northwestern. I just love the school and everything about the football program at Northwestern. I also knew that the coaching staff was all in and wouldn't leave for another job anytime soon and that stability was another big factor for me and I think a lot of the other recruits."
Blake made his official visit to Northwestern this past weekend.
"I made my official visit this weekend at it was a lot of fun. Everyone is planning to sign Letters of Intent on Wednesday and I'm not aware of anyone not fully on board. It was just a good chance to get to know all of the recruits better and to just get to hang out. We all talk online and we have been for awhile but it was still good to all be on campus for the weekend."
Does Blake have any words of advice for the next recruiting class?
"I would say really focus in on the schools who are truly interested in you and who will really offer you. Try to get an honest read on each coach and each school and try your best to read through some of the BS from the coaches. Focus in on the schools who are truly interested in you."
Wyatt Blake is verbally committed to Northwestern.
