OL Cox drawing more interest

Peoria (Ill.) junior offensive tackle recruit Marques Cox (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) is a big part of the Lions (7-0) massive offensive line this fall. Cox talks about his season along with his latest recruiting news and much more here.

"It was a good win for us on Saturday (42-40 come from behind win over Danville)," Cox said. "We had the worst half of football all season on Saturday. After being down 26-0 at half we just left it in the locker room and went out to play."

Cox talked about his latest recruiting news.

"I have an offer from Iowa State and I talk to them on and off quite a bit. I'm also hearing more and more from Iowa and Notre Dame. I get invited to college games all the time and I've been trying to get out to Notre Dame but it's hard with our schedule. We start the playoffs in a few weeks and you don't know when you'll play until the week before the games. It makes it hard to plan anything plus I want to focus just on my team from here on out."

Cox, who is a solid student in the class room discussed what he feels are his strengths on the field.

"My pass pro has improved but I also still have more work to do. I use my hands pretty well and my overall blocking technique has gotten better. I've also gotten better at reading the defensive line and knowing what's. coming from them."

Does Cox have a dream school?

"I've been asked that before and it's hard for me to answer. My dream is to just to go to college and play football and hopefully get a full scholarship. If I can go to school and play football I'll be pretty happy. I'm really open to everyone and I just never really had one college I'd call a favorite. I love just turning on the TV and watching college football no matter who's playing."

Marques Cox has a scholarship offer from Iowa State.
