OL Cox is ready to roll

Peoria (Ill.) senior three star ranked offensive guard recruit Marques Cox (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) has been on the mend all off-season after having post-season surgery late in 2016. Cox checks in and fills us in on where he's at with his recovery and more in this update.

"I've been practicing with the team since we went back to our team camp this summer," Cox said. "I was fully cleared by everyone last Friday and I'm starting to work my way back into contact."

Cox admits that it's been a long road to his recovery, yet Cox also feels that he's been able to use the experience as an important lesson.

"It's been a long road back for sure and it feels good to be back. I was able to learn some important lessons like how to better take care of my body better. I focused in on just trying to to rehab while still working on what I could work on. I was able to do upper body lifts and then once I was cleared I started to transition to more lower body lifts. I'm back to fully lifting and I'm able to just do everything now. My coaches at practice said that I'm moving better than ever and joked that I almost look like an athlete now."

Cox also recapped his latest recruiting news.

"I still stay in touch with all of the schools who offered me. I'm also still in touch with the coaches from Illinois, West Virginia and a lot of other schools. Everyone wants to see my early senior year video and se how I'm doing after surgery."

Cox also is in no hurry to make a college decision.

"I just want to focus on getting back out and playing and helping my team win games. I'll look harder at my options towards the end of the season. I'm sure I'll also take some official visits before I make a decision. So many coaches have said that if I show well on video they would end up offering me, so I'm not gonna rush anything for now."

Cox is also excited about the Lions upcoming season.

"Hopefully we can win it again. We have all the parts in place but we also know that we need to work extremely hard every single day. We learned last season that every day matters."

Marques Cox has multiple scholarship offers.
