OL Eike picks up an offer

Batavia (IL) junior offensive tackle prospect Nolan Eike (6-foot-6, 260 pounds) visited Central Michigan for a Junior Day on Saturday and came back home with his first scholarship offer. Eike recaps his first visit and offer here.

"I went to Central Michigan and was really impressed," Eike said. "It was also a nice surprise to come away with my first offer from Central Michigan."

Eike almost didn't add his first offer from the Chippewas on Saturday.

"We had a really nice visit then said goodby to the CMU coaches. We stopped in town at Wendy's and I got a text from one of the CMU coaches wondering if we could head back to campus and see the coaches. We headed back and that's when they offered me. I had a feeling that once the coaches wanted us to come back something good would happen. I had a nice talk with the offensive line coach (Derek Fraizer) and then head coach John Bonamego and that's when they offered me a scholarship."

Eike, who made his first ever trip to CMU on Saturday came away impressed with his visit.

"I was impressed with the facilities at Central Michigan along with the coaches. The coaches just seem very dedicated to the players and being a winning program. I was able to see some of the campus and that also seems pretty nice."

Eike has also drawn more recruiting interest this winter.

"I've been in touch with the coaches from Illinois, Illinois State plus the coaches from Columbia, Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Buffalo. I'm planning to go to spring practices at Illinois and Central Michigan. I'm also planning to visit Illinois State on February 19th for a junior day event."
