OL Wentworth is ready to go

Minooka (Ill.) senior offensive guard recruit Derek Wentworth (6-foot-3, 275 pounds) is getting ready to kickoff his upcoming senior season in just over a week away. Wentworth checks in and talks about his upcoming senior season, his latest recruiting news and more in this update.

"Our team is really starting to look good," Wentworth said. "We've made a ton of progress over the past two weeks and everything is starting to click and everyone has been stepping up."

Wentworth recapped his latest recruiting news.

"I've been in touch with more D2 schools along with some NAIA level schools. I have an offer from St. Francis (NAIA) and I'm planning to head over foe a game this season. I've also stayed in touch with D2 schools like St. Cloud State (D2) along with Winona State and Minnesota-Moorhead. I have an offer already from St. Cloud State and the other two seems to be pretty interested. I also heard recently from one of the coaches at UConn. They said they liked my junior tape and want to see some of my early senior video and that they would be in touch."

Wentworth is also planning to see some playing time on both sides of the football this fall.

"I'm going to get a chance to play a bit on defense this year as well as on the offensive line. I'll get to play on defense in some situations and on some certain defenses we play and I'm excited to get a chance to show what I can do. I've also had a few college coaches want to see me on the defensive line."

So how will the Minooka Indians fare this season?

"We have great new coaches and everyone is excited. I know the local media is talking about us not doing too much and that's fine. I know that everyone is excited for the season and we will be ready to go."
