OL Westendorf is one to watch

St. Charles (Ill.) North junior offensive tackle prospect Alex Westendorf (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) has been very solid this winter at various showcase camps and is a definite name to watch in the growing Class of 2019. Get to know Alex Westendorf here.

"Lately I've been just working out, lifting after school with my teammates and then also working with a speed trainer," Westendorf said. "We also had been seeing a lot of college coaches in school up until this week so recruiting has been going well."

Westendorf recapped some of the schools that have been showing recruiting interest this winter.

"I've been in touch and drawing recruiting attention from schools such as South Dakota State, Western Michigan, UW Platteville, Indiana, Ball State and also Miami of Ohio. Both Purdue and Iowa State also made an in school visit not too long ago."

Has Westendorf made any recent college visits?

"I was planning a visit not too long ago to Miami of Ohio but it was one of those bad weather days and they cancelled the visits. I reset that visit and I'll go see Miami of Ohio sometime in the early spring. I'm also in the process of getting out to see more schools and planning to hit it hard especially this spring. I've been invited to events at Miami along with Western Michigan and South Dakota State as well."

So what has Westendorf focusing in on when improving his game this off-season?

"I've been working hard on improving my overall technique and getting my overall fundamentals down. It's been all about just focusing in on improving my craft along with just getting bigger. stronger and faster."

Does Westendorf have a dream school?

"My dream school would be Notre Dame. I've always been a big fan and my grandpa also attended Notre Dame."
