Normal (Ill.) West junior quarterback recruit Carson Camp (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer from Illinois State University on Wednesday. Camp discusses adding his first offer from the in-town ISU Redbirds and much more in this latest recruiting update.

"I've been staying in touch with the coaches at Illinois State since the summer," Camp said. "The ISU coaches said in a text that they would love to have me stop in for a visit after the dead period. and also wanted me to know that they had offered me a scholarship."

Carson filled us in on his impressions of Illinois State.

"I live maybe 5 minutes from campus at ISU so I'm very familiar with the schools and the football program at ISU. Illinois State offers a good education and they have a strong business program. I also just like the whole atmosphere on campus at ISU and I also like the coaches at ISU. They are good guys and they are all about getting after it and taking care of business. It's a hard working program and team."

Adding his first offer from the in town Redbirds also means a lot to Camp.

"It definitely means a lot to me. It's a great feeling to know that a school trust and supports me enough to extend a scholarship offer, especially adding an offer from a great school and program like Illinois State. I know that I have an option now to play in college and it feels really good."

Camp. who is playing basketball this winter for Normal West recapped his recent recruiting news.

"I've also remained in touch with the coaches from Western Michigan, Miami of Ohio, NIU, South Dakota, South Dakota State and also New Mexico. Also Syracuse has been the latest schools to contact me and they said that they will be in school this spring to watch me throw in person."

Camp is also hoping to squeeze in some upcoming campus visits.

"I'm pretty busy with basketball but I'm hoping to get out to see a few different schools in person sometime this winter or spring. I don't have any other visits planned just yet."
