QB Estes pledges to WMU

East St Louis (Ill.) junior quarterback recruit Reyondous Estes (6-foot-0, 170 pounds) made a visit to Western Michigan on Saturday and just moments ago called up the Broncos coaches and gave them his verbal commitment.

"I called up Coach (PJ) Fleck and the rest of the coaches at Western Michigan and I committed," according to Estes."I'm just very excited about WMU and so is my family. I had a great visit on Saturday, thought it over for a few days and I'm ready so I committed."

Estes, who plays quarterback for the Flyers and head coach Darren Sunkett discussed his decision.

"I just had a great visit to Western Michigan. I had my family with me including my Mom, Sister and my Brother In Law and they agreed that Western Michigan is a great place. They offered me as a quarterback and want to give me a shot at that position. A lot of schools wanted me as an athlete. I just fell in love with the school and the football program and they really have everything I'm looking for in a school. Coach (PJ) Fleck is just someone who understands me and who I can relate to really well. It's just a great set up and a great opportunity for me at WMU."

Estes, who has been drawing increased recruiting looks both as a quarterback along with being an "athlete" also considered waiting to make his decision but didn't want to miss on the Broncos.

"It's a timing thing especially when it comes to getting offers and playing quarterback. I've trained hard at the position for years and I feel I can play quarterback at the college level. It all just came together pretty quickly but I feel very strong and confident in my decision."

Estes also feels a lot of similarities with WMU head coach PJ Fleck.

"Coach Fleck and I have a lot in common. I'm always the talkative guy and the energetic guy and I'm always working hard to keep everyone up and everyone positive. Coach Fleck is the same way and I want to play for someone who has the same outlook on things. It's really more than just a football decision for me. It's also a life decision and I know that WMU will prepare me for more than just football."

Reyondous Estes is verbally committed to Western Michigan.
