QB Gibbs picks up first FBS offer
Chicago (IL) Phillips junior quarterback recruit J'Bore Gibbs (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) was able to add his first FBS scholarship offer on Tuesday when Eastern Michigan University extended Gibbs an offer. Gibbs discusses his latest offer and more in this update.
"Eastern Michigan just offered me a scholarship" Gibbs said. "It's exciting to get an offer from Eastern Michigan and I didn't see it coming at all."
Gibbs talked about adding his latest offer from the EMU Eagles.
"My recruiting coach at EMU (Fred Reed) texted me and I called him back. Coach Reed then put EMU head coach Chris Creighton on the phone and that's when they offered me a scholarship. I was really surprised to get an offer and I just didn't see it coming at all. I don't know a lot about Eastern Michigan except that they have been turning the program around over the past few years and played in a bowl game last year. I'm planning to go visit them on March 25th."
Gibbs has also remained in touch with several schools this late winter.
"I know that NIU is planning to be in school this spring and that they want to see me throw. Toledo has also been pretty interested and I'm planning to go visit them this spring. I've gotten a ton of mail and email from schools like Illinois, Kansas State, Bowling Green, North Dakota State, Nebraska and Virginia. The coaches all want me to stay in touch and they have also started to send camp information."
Gibbs is gearing up for what will be a huge spring evaluation period for him.
"Spring is going to be pretty important to me with recruiting. I'm planning to go to The Opening along with the Rivals Camp. I'm also expecting to see a lot of college coaches in school as well. It's getting close to go time for me and I'm excited to show the coaches what I can do this spring."
