QB McPherson is on a roll

Aurora (Ill.) Marmion Academy senior quarterback/athlete prospect Brandon McPherson (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) has the Cadets (5-0) on an roll so far this season. McPherson talks about his senior season so far along with his latest recruiting news.

"It's been a fun season so far for sure," McPherson said. "Winning definitely makes it a lot more fun. We still have some really big games ahead including this week against Fenwick so we need to really get after it again this week."

McPherson, who has been drawing recruiting looks in both football and baseball fills us in on his latest football recruiting news.

"I've been remaining in touch with several FCS schools. I also still talk with the coaches at NIU. I'm also in touch with the coaches from Illinois State, Southern Illinois, North Dakota State plus some other FCS schools. They all have invited me to come to see games in person but it's been hard to get out with our schedule. I also talk quite a bit with Minnesota for baseball. I'm just going to play out my senior season for football and see what happens with my recruiting."

McPherson would love to play both sports in college but admits that it's not a deal breaker.

"Ideally I would love to play one sport on scholarship and walk on for the other sport. I also understand that it's really hard to pull off especially at the higher levels in college. I'm just going to keep all of my option open and look harder at everything once the season is completed."

So what's been the difference so far this season for the Cadets?

"This team is just a different group of kids compared to last season. We are a team that has a lot of fight in us and we've come from behind twice so far this season. We also have a lot more speed this year compared to the last few seasons. We also really mix it up a lot on offense and that keeps teams really off balanced."
