QB Thorne is drawing more looks

Naperville (Ill.) Central (5-1) junior quarterback recruit Payton Thorne (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news and more in this update.

"We had a tough game on Saturday against St. Edward (Ohio)" Thorne said. "I went back and watched the video and we were maybe 2-3 plays that would of made it possible for us to win. We played a nationally ranked team from Ohio pretty tough (34-24 final) and we will take away the positives and work on getting better."

Thorne also has continued to draw steady college looks so far this season.

"Purdue had one of it's coaches stop to see one of our practices last week and I've also been in touch with the quarterbacks coach at Purdue (Brian Brohm). I've also been staying in touch with schools like Stanford, Cincinnati, Penn State plus Western Michigan and Michigan State. All of those schools just want to stay in touch and they also want me to come out to visit them."

Has Thorne planned any upcoming college game day visits?

"I'm looking to head out to Stanford in two weeks for a visit. I've also been trying to get out to see more schools like Western Michigan but it's going to get hard once the state playoffs begin. I won't know when we play until the week before the games so I'm hoping to be able to make a few visits sometime soon."

Thorne is also excited for the Redhawks season so far including this week's rivalry game against Naperville North at North Central College.

"I had a chance to see the Crosstown Classic once when I was I think in 5th or 6th grade and it was packed. I'm really looking forward to playing against (Naperville) North this week."

Payton Thorne has a scholarship offers from Western Michigan.
