RB Valladay lands his first offer

Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice senior running back prospect Xazavian Valladay (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer recently from Western Illinois University. Valladay talks about his latest recruiting and much more here.

"I went to the WIU Bolingbrook camp and that was the first time the WIU coaches saw me," Valladay said. "I went out to visit WIU for a team BBQ and that's when WIU offered me a scholarship."

Valladay talked about adding his first offer from the Western Illinois University Leathernecks.

"The WIU coaches really surprised me with the offer. I was talking to head coach Charlie Fisher at the BBQ and he asked me about my season and what goals I had in mind. Once I told him my goals he said that was good to hear because he wants his running backs to set high goals at WIU. He then said I'm offering you a scholarship here at WIU. It feels great to get my first offer from WIU. I liked what I saw at the BBQ, I liked the facilities and the locker rooms at WIU and I also liked the campus. I was also able to talk to some of the players at WIU and they seem like good guys."

Valladay has also been hearing from a a handful of schools this summer.

"Wyoming has been pretty interested. Illinois State and North Dakota State are still in touch and they all want to see some of my early senior video. I'm going to wait just a little bit before I think about making a college decision. We start practice tomorrow (Monday) and that's my main focus right now."

Valladay is also excited about his upcoming senior season.

"We should be really good this season. Our team really started to come together in team camp and everyone is working hard and is ready to go. I'm still not sure where I'll play this year. It could be at running back, receiver or on defense at safety. I'm versatile and I'll play anywhere I'm needed."
