Shannon talks Gophers pledge
Oswego (IL) junior three star ranked defensive tackle recruit Noah Shannon (6-foot-2, 285 pounds) ended his recruiting process tonight and gave the University of Minnesota his verbal commitment. Shannon talks about his decision here..
"I just felt like I was ready to commit," according to Shannon. "I made a visit to Minnesota today and I was just able to get a better feel for everything that Minnesota has to offer. I just felt the most comfortable at Minnesota."
Shannon, who said that he also gave heavy consideration towards Iowa and Indiana admitted that while the Gopher had a lead, he didn't make his decision until his visit today.
"The coaches at Minnesota showed me around and I had personal attention from everyone at Minnesota. I was able to see the campus along with all the facilities including getting a look at the brand new athlete's village they are building. Minnesota just has so much to offer on and off the field everything was really impressive."
Shannon also was impressed with his first face to face meeting with Gopher new head coach PJ Fleck.
"I was able to finally meet Coach Fleck face to face today. He just has such a passion for the game and such energy. He's bringing a culture to Minnesota that you want to be a part of and I know that Coach Fleck and all of the coaches at Minnesota will have a huge impact on the game. I just want to play for Coach Fleck and I know that he will make me a better player and a better person."
Shannon also had some contact with a growing contingent of Chicagoland commits in tje Gophers Class of 2018.
"I've talked to Tyrik (Henderson) and Elijah (Teague) a bit. They definitely tried to sell me a little but they were also pretty cool about it all. It's just cool that I'll be able to go up to Minnesota with some guys from my area. I'm sure I'll get to know all of those guys better over the next year or so."
Noach Shannon is verbally committed to Minnesota.
