TE Billingsly adds a Purdue offer
Chicago (IL) Phillips junior tight end/defensive end recruit Jahleel Billingsly (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) was able to fit in a late summer one day camp at Purdue late last week and came away with his first offer from the Boilermakers. Get to know this latest name on the rise in the Class of 2019 here.
"I went to Purdue last Friday for a camp," according to Billingsly. "The camp went really well and Purdue offered me a scholarship. It's my first offer and it's just very exciting."
Billingsly discussed adding his first offer from the Boilermakers and his impressions after his first trip to Purdue.
"The Purdue coaches came up to me during the camp and said that they wanted to be the first school to offer me a scholarship. I was also able to look around at Purdue a bit and everything was really nice. I was able to see the campus and I also saw the brand new facility that Purdue is building. Everything was just really nice at Purdue and I also got along great with the coaches. I was a bit surprised to get an offer from Purdue. We are getting towards the end of the summer and I just assumed that most of the coaches would wait until during the season before they would offer me."
Billingsly has also begun to draw recruiting interest this summer.
"Besides Purdue I've also been in touch with schools like Minnesota, North Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri along with some other schools. I'm looking at trying to go out to visit NIU this weekend. I've also been in touch and talking to some of the coaches at Toledo."
Billingsly is also excited for his upcoming junior season.
"We have been looking really good in team camp this summer. We plan on winning a state title this year but our main focus is on Week 1 against Loyola. That's a big opening game for us and everyone is excited to get going."
