TE Lewis picks Miami of Ohio

Naperville(Ill.) North senior three star ranked tight end recruit Mitch Lewis (6-foot-6, 215 pounds) made a weekend official visit to Miami of Ohio and on Sunday Lewis gave the Redhawks his verbal commitment.

"It's been a long journey," Lewis said. "It was a lot of pressure towards the end but I knew that I wanted to play for Miami of Ohio while I was on my official visit this weekend. My official visit to Miami this weekend locked it in for me."

So why Miami of Ohio for Lewis?

"Just getting a chance to finally get out and see Miami of Ohio in person and also getting to meet the coaches and the team was huge. Miami has a great campus, new facilities plus I also really like the coaches at Miami. The football program is starting to turn it around and I'm excited to be a part of the program. Miami of Ohio also offers a great education and overall it's just as great fit for me ."

Lewis however wanted to get feedback from his family before making his final college choice.

"I have a big family and I wanted my family to be a part of the decision process. Once we got back home from Miami we all sat down and talked it over. My Mom went with me on the official visit and she also loved it. I was really considering staying closer to home. I have a special needs brother and I wanted to be as close to home as I can for him and all of my family. It's going to be hard to be away from home but my family is completely behind me and that's a huge relief for me."

Mitch Lewis is verbally committed to Miami of Ohio.
