TE Marcotte picks up two offers
Mt. Carmel (Ill.) junior tight end recruit Jackson Marcotte (6-foot-7, 220 pounds) was able to add his first two scholarship offers on Monday when Wyoming and SIU extended offers. Marcotte checks in and talks about his recent scholarships and more in this update.
"I was able to add my first two offers today (Monday)," Marcotte said. "Wyoming and SIU both offered me and it feels pretty exciting."
Marcotte, a two sport standout (football/basketball) for the Golden Aces discusses his impressions of both in-state SIU and Wyoming.
"SIU has been recruiting me longer than anyone else. I went to SIU for a football game last fall and my older sister also went to SIU. The Wyoming offer really came out of nowhere to be honest. I received a little bit of mail from Wyoming and all of a sudden they messaged me, I called them back and they offered me a scholarship."
Marcotte has also been in touch with a handful of other schools this winter.
"Besides SIU and Wyoming, I've also been in touch with Illinois State and Arkansas a bit. Illinois State invited me to a junior day on Sunday but unfortunately I couldn't make it. I'm hoping to get a chance to go visit them once my basketball season is completed. We start the basketball regionals on Tuesday."
Marcotte, who is also drawing recruiting looks for basketball is still very open when it comes to which sport he will play in college.
"I love playing both football and basketball. I also have an offer from Eastern Illinois for basketball and Evansville has been very interested. It's still early so I'm just going to see how my recruiting goes in both sports for a bit before I make a decision on which sport I'll focus on in college."
Marcotte described his strengths on the field.
"I'm a pretty versatile player and I'm also pretty athletic for my size and I can find open space and make the tough catches. I'm working really hard on improving my overall blocking. I also want to add more strength and just get stronger."
Jackson Marcotte has scholarship offers from Wyoming and Southern Illinois University.
