TE Pearl draws more interest

Danville (IL) junior tight end/defensive end recruit Julian Pearl (6-foot-7, 245 pounds) already has an early scholarship offer from in-state NIU and expect Pearl to draw more recruiting looks this winter and spring. Get to know this latest Class of 2018 name to watch here first.

"I have an offer from NIU," Pearl said. "The NIU coaches offered me a few weeks ago. NIU is my first offer and they want me to make a trip out to see the school soon. It feels great to get my first offer from NIU. It's exciting."

Pearl, who is also a standout for the Vikings basketball team this winter talked about his impression of NIU.

"I visited NIU awhile ago but that was more of an academic visit. NIU wants me to come up for a Junior Day visit on January 21st. I liked what I saw when I was at NIU. They offer strong academics and they also have a good engineering program. I'm excited to see what the football program is all about because honestly I don't know much about them to be honest."

Pearl has also drawn steady recruiting interest from multiple schools this winter.

"I've been getting a lot of mail from schools. I've also been in touch with the coaches from Iowa, Illinois, Illinois State, Minnesota, Purdue, Navy, Boston College and Arkansas. I was able to visit Northwestern last fall for a game and that was a good experience. All of the college coaches want me to stay in touch and they also all want me to come out and visit them sometime soon."

Does Pearl, who is also a three sport athlete at Danville (football/basketball/track) have a dream school?

"I would say that Illinois is my dream school. Illinois is located so close to home and it's just a great school in the Big Ten conference."

Julian Pearl has a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois University.
